My world Tuesday

Our world is still white. Today was a real winter day: cold, gray and some snow.
The building at the end of the road is an old water tower -a huge water reservoir- not far from our home. At least three times a week I drive along this road and see the huge building. It was built in 1952 on the grounds of the Oranje Nassau mines in Heerlen. The (coal) mines are all closed down and many houses have been built on the grounds. The tower still exists and I sincerely hope that it will be kept for future generations. Many water towers have been demolished but nowadays communities are trying to keep them as historic buildings. It was a pity I could not take a better photo today. I will try again on a sunny day.

It's a great shot in spite of the weather and a very interesting post! It does look so cold in your world. We had a lot of snow last year, but none so far this year -- just rain and gray! Have a good week, stay warm!

Good shot. The suburb in my photo today has gone through gentrification in recent years and a lot of these older flats have been restored and renovated. Being so close to the city, they are very popular with people who live an urban lifestyle.

I do hope communities/govt start preserving older structures for posterity. You have a wonderful world like a wonderland.

The older I am getting the less I like the snow. But it does make for wonderful photos.

Nice shot. I agree with you that water tower should be preserved just to remind us of our history and as future generations can also see a bit of past.

Lovely and neat. Your road is well-look after. If I can only show the invisibility of our heatwave here down under I would! At the moment, we are under sweltering heat! Thanks for the visit Jossie. Much appreciated.
